Active Travel in Holy Family
Active Travel
We are proud to be a Gold Award Active Travel School, recognising our strong commitment to promoting walking, wheeling and cycling as part of everyday school life. Active travel is central to our ethos, supporting pupils’ physical health, mental wellbeing and awareness of the environment.
Throughout the year, we run a wide range of active travel events and campaigns that encourage pupils and families to choose healthier, more sustainable ways to travel. These include whole-school challenges such as the Big Walk and Wheel and Cycle to School Week.
We are fortunate to work closely with our Active Travel Officer from Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans), who delivers engaging active travel sessions in school throughout the year. These sessions help pupils develop important road safety skills, learn about sustainable transport and understand how active travel benefits both personal wellbeing and the wider community.
By embedding active travel into school life, we aim to create positive lifelong habits that support healthy bodies, healthy minds and a healthier planet.
