Year 4

Welcome to Primary 4!

Holy Family Primary School is a place where every child is encouraged to reach for the stars!

During their time in Primary 4, children will continue to develop and build upon their knowledge and understanding across the Northern Ireland curriculum.

We are fantastic artists, musicians, singers, poets, writers, readers, mathematicians, scientists, historians and geographers.

Children will participate in active and engaging lessons, within a safe and nurturing environment, which support the development of key thinking skills and capabilities and challenge them to fulfil their potential. Children will learn in a cross curricular way through our many World around Us topics throughout the year.

In Primary 4, we explore the topics:

  • Explosions and Eruptions
  • Time Travellers (Stone Age, Romans, Celts and Tudor Times)
  • India
  • The Victorians
  • Wild Weather

alongside seasonal topics like Halloween, Christmas and Easter! We also love to share in celebrations occuring across the world to help children develop global awareness.

In Primary 4, we celebrate our individual part in the world and how each of us are important. We participate in the Keeping Safe, PATHS, Nurture in 5 and other PDMU programmes that help us better understand our emotions and feelings. We show kindness and empathy to everyone and promote respect for every human being.

We are eco-friendly and are dedicated to looking after eachother, our classroom, our school and our wider world!

We continue to advance our ICT skills through the use of a variety of publication, coding and learning apps. We learn about the importance of E-Safety and how to use the internet in a safe way.
