Nursery
The nursery provides a happy, secure and nurturing environment for children to play and learn. We plan a rich and varied curriculum which offers stimulating and challenging learning opportunities, allowing children to play and develop freely at their own pace. Children are encouraged to follow their own interests to build on the prior knowledge about themselves and their world. We aim to work with parents and carers to ensure children become confident, independent and resilient individuals with positive attitudes and respect for themselves and others. They will, of course, have lots of fun along the way!
The Nursery Curriculum
The nursery curriculum is divided into six areas of learning -
The Six Areas of Learning (Curricular Guidance for Pre School Education, CCEA) are:
- Language Development
- Early Mathematical Experiences
- World Around Us
- The Arts
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development and Movement
Nursery Facilities
Holy Family Primary School operates two full-time sessions a day. We have two full time teachers and 5 nursery assistants. We enrol a total of 52 children. Our nursery has two classrooms. Each classroom has a spacious play area, a quiet room, toilets and a sheltered outdoor learning area. We have an extensive outdoor learning space including a bike and scooter track, a climbing frame, sand pit, mud kitchen and a natural space to allow the children to explore the world around them.
